to the Hooked Rug Museum of North America by Edward MacArthur of

Cape Breton Heads to New York Friday, October 12, 2007
The
unique Cheticamp style of rug hooking, with a colorful new twist added,
will be front and centre at the largest United States hooked rug show.
A collection of fifty hooked rugs from Cape Breton's Cheticamp and St.
Joseph Du Moine area is currently being assembled the 2008 event by
Suzanne Conrod, founder of the Nova Scotia based Hooked Rug Museum of

Museum Seeks Help with Early History Monday, August 27, 2007 While
the Garrett family of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia made a significant
impact on the early rug hooking of a continent, an earlier family
member may have played a role previously unknown. The Hooked Rug Museum
Society is appealing for volunteer assistance in the ongoing research
into a rug pattern design that appears to reach well back into the mid
1800's and possibly to the very earliest beginnings commercial rug

Garrett Family Recognized for Century of Contribution Saturday, August 25, 2007
What
may have been the largest manufacturer of hooked rug patterns in the
world, the 1892 John E. Garrett Company of New Glasgow, was singled out
for special recognition by representatives of the Hooked Rug Museum of
North America. In the process, they unveiled some intriguing,
previously unknown information about an earlier chapter in Pictou
County and Nova Scotia hooked rug design and how it is being saved for

Garrett Replication Program Ready for Prime Time Sunday, April 01, 2007

citizens, under a Government of Canada "New Horizon's" program
titled "At Grandmother's Knee" and working in seaside and
backwoods villages of Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, have replicated an
amazing collection of 50 heritage rug patterns for the Hooked Rug
Museum of North America. They have become an integral part of the story

Consultant joins the board Friday, March 30, 2007 In
a twist of the classic, "I liked it so much, I bought the company," the
museum's consultant has joined the Board of Directors. Robert Frame,
who previously worked for the museum under a consulting contract, has

Vermont fire destroys Grenfell artifacts Friday, September 01, 2006 Fire
claimed one life and destroyed a number of important historical
artifacts in New Haven, Vermont. The blaze at the Dog Team Tavern

Charity registration approved Tuesday, August 29, 2006 The Government of Canada has formally approved the
museum as a registered charity. This approval was gained in near record
time, a matter of weeks instead of the usual four to six months. The
speed with which the approval was given is a tribute to the high regard

The Museum Society Monday, August 28, 2006
Suzanne Conrod is the Founder and Honorary Chair
of the Society. She is the Society's international representative and
the liaison to the arts community. Hugh Conrod is the Secretary and
chairs the Design Committee and the Government Relations Committee.
Together,
they have assembled a Board of Directors who share the vision and are
